What we do

Your complete dental home in Finchley
General dentistry covers the full range of everyday and preventive dental care — the services most patients need throughout their lives to maintain healthy teeth and gums. It is the foundation of good oral health, and the starting point for any more specialist treatment if it is ever required.

At 110 Total Dentistry we treat patients of all ages: children attending their first appointment, adults managing long-standing dental concerns, and patients who have not visited a dentist for some time and are looking for a straightforward, non-judgemental starting point.

General dentistry aims to keep the teeth and gums you already have in the best possible condition, and where treatment is needed, to restore them using materials and techniques that are built to last. We do not recommend treatment unnecessarily. If everything is in good order, we will tell you clearly.

Why regular care matters

Conditions we identify and manage
Tooth decay

Decay caused by bacterial acid can remain painless until it reaches the inner pulp of the tooth. Early detection at a routine examination allows a simple filling; leaving it untreated may eventually require root canal treatment or extraction.

Gum disease

Gum disease (periodontal disease) affects the gum and supporting bone. In its early stage (gingivitis) it is reversible with professional cleaning and improved home care. Advanced gum disease can cause tooth loss if not addressed.

Wear and acid erosion

Gradual enamel loss from grinding, acidic foods or reflux is common and often goes unnoticed. We assess wear patterns at each examination and advise on protective measures before significant damage occurs.

New patient journey

What to expect at your first visit
Your first appointment at 110 Total Dentistry is an opportunity for us to understand your dental history, your concerns and your goals — and for you to understand what we can offer. There is no obligation to proceed with any treatment after your examination.
01
New Patient Examination

We review your general health, medications and any previous dental treatment. This helps us tailor our examination and identify any relevant considerations.

02
Comprehensive examination
A full assessment of your teeth, gums, soft tissues, bite and jaw. X-rays are taken if clinically indicated (£10 per image).
03
Findings and discussion
We explain what we have found in plain language, including what is healthy, what warrants monitoring and what may benefit from treatment.
04
Written treatment plan
If treatment is recommended, you receive a written plan with itemised costs before any work begins. You can take this away and consider it without pressure.
05
Booking your next visit
We recommend a recall interval suited to your individual needs. Many patients are seen every six to twelve months; some may benefit from more frequent visits.

Restorative treatments

Common procedures and what to expect
White (composite) fillings

We use tooth-coloured composite resin to repair cavities and replace worn or cracked tooth structure. The filling is bonded directly to the tooth, matched to your natural shade. Most single-tooth fillings are completed in one appointment. From £110.

Extractions

We always aim to preserve natural teeth where possible. Where a tooth is too damaged, infected or impacted to save, extraction is carried out under local anaesthesia. We discuss replacement options, including implants and bridges, before proceeding. From £190.

Crowns and bridges

A crown is a custom-made cap that fully covers a damaged or root-treated tooth, restoring its shape, strength and appearance. A bridge replaces one or more missing teeth by anchoring to the adjacent natural teeth. Porcelain crowns from £490.

Root canal treatment

When the soft tissue inside a tooth (the pulp) becomes infected or inflamed, root canal treatment removes the infection, cleans and seals the root canals, and allows the tooth to be retained. It is carried out under local anaesthesia. From £290 per canal.

Professional hygiene

A professional clean removes tartar and plaque that cannot be removed by brushing alone. Our hygienist also assesses gum health and provides personalised advice on home care. Hygiene from £75; Diamond Clean (extended session) £95.

Gum care

Gum disease is managed through a combination of professional cleaning (scaling), home-care instruction and, where necessary, more targeted periodontal treatment. Early-stage gum disease can often be fully reversed with appropriate care.

Longevity & aftercare

Making dental care last
The lifespan of any dental treatment depends significantly on how well it is looked after. Composite fillings typically last several years with good home care; porcelain crowns can last considerably longer. Root-treated teeth that have been crowned and well maintained have a good long-term prognosis.

We provide straightforward advice on brushing, flossing and diet at every appointment. We do not advocate complex or expensive products — effective technique and consistent routine are the most reliable factors in maintaining dental health.

Regular recall appointments allow us to check restorations, identify early signs of new decay, and keep your gums in good health. Missing scheduled appointments is one of the most common causes of preventable deterioration.

Common questions

General dentistry FAQs

A new patient examination at 110 Total Dentistry costs £75. This includes a full assessment of your teeth, gums, bite and soft tissues, plus a discussion of any findings. X-rays are taken if clinically indicated, at £10 per image. Routine examinations for existing patients are £45.

Routine examinations for patients under 16 are provided free of charge. Please confirm eligibility and current terms when booking, as conditions may apply.

The appropriate recall interval varies between patients. Many adults benefit from a check-up every six to twelve months; patients with active gum disease or higher decay risk may be seen more frequently. We recommend a personalised recall interval at the end of each visit.

Not at all. A significant proportion of the patients we see have had a gap in their dental care for one reason or another — whether due to anxiety, cost, moving home or simply losing the habit. Our role is to assess where you are now and discuss practical options, not to make you feel uncomfortable about the past.

A check-up (examination) assesses the health of your teeth, gums and oral tissues, identifies any decay or gum disease, and results in a treatment plan if required. A hygiene appointment focuses on cleaning the teeth professionally — removing tartar and plaque that cannot be removed by brushing. Many patients benefit from attending both; we can advise on what is appropriate for your individual situation.

Yes. We use composite resin fillings, which are matched to your natural tooth colour. White fillings are available as a standard option at 110 Total Dentistry, from £110. The longevity of a composite filling depends on its size, position and how well it is maintained, and we are happy to discuss expectations at your consultation.

We are located at 110–112 Ballards Lane, Finchley, London N3 2DN — a short walk from Finchley Central station on the Northern line. To check current opening hours or arrange an appointment, please call 020 7998 7657 or email info@110totaldentistry.co.uk.
